Mentoring Program Categories: Arts & Science Education/Academics Mentoring in-schools One-to-one Mentoring (individual)
The Big Brothers Big Sisters 1:1 In-School Mentoring program occurs in elementary and high schools in Kingston and surrounding areas, during the school day between October and April or June. The children enrolled in the program are often struggling socially, academically, or with their mental health, and could benefit from the support of an additional caring adult in their school.
Mentors meet with students at their school, and engage in activities they both enjoy, often playing card games, board games, doing arts and crafts, reading, and sometimes sitting and talking. This relationship is secured for the entire school year and helps the mentee feel more connected to their school community and improve their commitment to learning.
